Brethren,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our risen Saviour, Jesus Christ from the Land of the Unexpected!
In March, we were excited to start our second year of classes for Highlands Baptist Bible Institute. We had a great kickoff meeting for three days with Missionary John Allen preaching for us each night, and some of our local pastors preaching during our morning sessions. We have had some new students join us this year, and are excited to see them settling in to HBBI. Our classes have been going well, and the students seem to be enjoying the teaching as we continue through our many lessons.
Please continue to pray as many of our students are dealing with sickness, and other troubles. We know that any time we make a commitment and effort to do the work of the Lord, we will face opposition and trials. We would love to see these students(many of whom travel great distances), finish this course and do great things for the Lord in the gospel ministry.
Our outreach in Kelua continues to go well. We continued to go every Sunday afternoon, but were facing quite a bit of problems with all the rain. I decided to go across the road to the small local teachers college and asked if we could start meeting in one of their classrooms. The leadership of the school agreed, but asked us to meet in the afternoons in order to allow them to lock everything back up before dark. We have been able to hold services for 2 weeks now and have been excited to see folks from the community come here the preaching of the word of God. We are praying that in the weeks or months to come we will be able to move our time closer to 6:00pm in order allow more folks to come, but for now we are excited to have a designated meeting place. One of the teachers at the college is actually saved Baptist lady from the neighboring province and has been praying for the Lord to open a door for the gospel to come to the school there. Every Sunday, she has been coming along with many of the students from the school.
Please continue to pray for God to work in this community so that souls might be saved. This area has a reputation as a haven for criminals and rascals, and it is our heart’s desire to see God break through to these hardened people for their salvation and his glory. This last week, I was able to witness to one of the community leaders, Steven, and then invite him to our Sunday service. He actually came, and seemed to enjoy it, saying he planned to return again next week.
Please also pray as we are putting together a plan for a weeklong tent meeting in Kelua at the end of July. Between now and then, we plan to continue to visit the various markets and villages in the area to hold outreach services where we will preach and distribute gospel tracts.
Also, I will be traveling down near the coast to Morebe Province in May to preach and teach for three days in a special meeting. Many pastors and preachers will be there, and it is our desire to try to encourage them towards unity in and around the gospel of Jesus Christ. Please pray for safety during travel, and for the Lord to speak to hearts during this meeting
Lastly, please pray for the Scott Back family as they begin their journey to Papua New Guinea on April 30th. We are very excited for them to join us here in the work here and to see what God will do in the days to come.
To God Be the Glory,
Kenneth Seremak and Family
