Brethren,
We hope and pray this finds you all faithful in the service of our Lord and Saviour. We are excited to share some of the great things the Lord is doing here in our corner of Papua New Guinea.
Highlands Baptist Bible Institute: This week we have kicked off our 3rd year of school here at HBBI!! This will be the final year for some of our students, but we were also encouraged to see about 12 new students join us for their first year!! It is a blessing to see young men and women with a desire to study God’s word and to prepare themselves for possible ministry work in the future.
This semester, I am teaching classes on Biblical Prophecy, the Pastoral Epistles, and Ephesians. Bro Ben Childs, another missionary who has served in PNG for several years, is teaching a Bible Doctrines class for our first-year students as well. Please continue to pray for our students as they continue to sacrifice their time and make the effort to continue to study God’s word.
Kelua Ministry: Our efforts in Kelua continue to go well. In the last month, we have seen 2 more people trust Christ to be saved!! Margaret and Sydney have both been coming to our services for some time, but finally realized that a relationship with Christ is needed more than just religious association.
On Saturday afternoons, Sheila has been holding a prayer meeting with the Christian ladies in Kelua. Each week, the ladies meet at a different house for food, fellowship, and a time of prayer. The ladies have really enjoyed this, and it is a blessing to see them continue to grow in their new faith in Christ.
While the ladies are meeting for prayer, some of the men and myself go to the various communities in and around Kelua to distribute gospel tracts and preach. We have seen great responses to these efforts and are encouraged to see folks coming out to hear God’s word presented publicly every week.
About 20 years ago, Temple Baptist Church here in Mount Hagen purchased a piece of ground in Kelua to try to start a church, but for a variety of reasons the door was never fully opened for this to happen. Recently, Pastor Camillus Kumbi informed me that their church is giving this ground to us to be able to put a permanent church in Kelua. We have quite a few things to do before we will be ready to hold services in this new location (fence the property, put in toilet facilities, and put up some structures for servicers and Sunday School), so please continue to pray for wisdom and direction in the days to come.
Gospel Tent Ministry: We wanted to thank all of you who have continued to give towards our tent project. It has been a blessing to see the necessary funds come in, not just for the tent, but also for the shipping stateside and to get it here to PNG. Our intention is to use any additional funds to purchase a portable generator and sound system for our meetings and then possibly even put a down payment on a vehicle to help with transport of everything (We are currently paying for a local truck and driver every time we need to move equipment or people for our tent meetings or other special services).
May God bless you all in special way for your generosity and investment in the work here in the Papua New Guinea!!
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 Thessalonians 3:1
God Bless,
Kenneth Seremak and Family
